What is Qi gong?
Qi gong (pronounced: chee-gun), which combines meditative and physically active elements, is the basic exercise system within Chinese medicine. Qigong exercises are designed to help you preserve your Jing, strengthen and balance the flow of Qi energy, and enlighten your Shen.

Qi gong for Stress and Anxiety
While stress and anxiety are natural responses to modern life, they should not be a “constant” in your life. In this session, Maria Patrick, Certified Health Coach & Qi Gong Instructor, will help you transform your stress and anxiety into inner peace and tranquility. You will learn how to re-balance the Earth element within you, become present with your Heart Center, and build a protective “shield” against negative energy.

In this class you will:

  • Relax the Heart Center so you can experience the joy of life (some anxiety is normal, but it shouldn’t prevent you from doing what you want);
  • Clear out tightness and tension in the chest (sometimes all it takes is a few simple stretches);
  • Learn breathing exercises to bring your heart into present moment (you can use these whenever you need to reduce anxiety fast);
  • Clear stagnant energy with gentle Qi Gong flows (when your energy flows, joy and happiness are the natural result);
  • Fertilize your inner energy system  to grow a rich “internal garden” of tranquility;
  • Fortify a protective energy shield around you and clear out other people’s negative energy (taking on other people’s energy is natural, but we are never taught how to clear out the energy we don’t want); and
  • Cleanse and clear anxiety out of your entire system.

Energy is that secret substance we all seek. Described as the “elixir of life”, energy – or “Qi” – is the vital essence that creates health, harmony, and well-being. Qi Gong can stimulate your own natural resources, effortlessly and naturally, just like the sunrise inspires the birds to sing and flowers to open.

In this class, Maria Patrick, Certified Health Coach & Qi Gong Instructor, will guide you in the following:

  • A series of warm-ups to invigorate your body, stimulate key pressure points, and awaken your life force;
  • Gentle stretches– to open the areas in your body that chronically hold tension and stress. By releasing stress, you will free up healing energy; and
  • Flowing movements to stimulate your whole system – putting every cell of your body in sync with nature and the world around you.

Sleep is the energy of life! In this session, you will learn healthy sleep habits for improving your energy, health and longevity. Certified Health Coach & Qi Gong Instructor – Maria Patrick – will help you discover ways to improve your sleep, feel more rested & increase your vitality.

In this class you will discover:

  • Stress clearing exercises to use at the end of the day;
  • Relaxation techniques to help you get deep rest;
  • Flowing movements to cultivate your Yin energy;
  • Healing sounds to do before bed to promote deep sleep; and
  • Stretches that will clear lines of tension.

Wellness 101: Intro to Yoga

About Wellness 101
It is time to get back to the basics! Why do you really need to exercise? What exactly is yoga? Spin classes are for athletes only, right? The answers to these and many other questions will be answered in our Wellness 101 Workshop Series. Starting in September, each month you will have the opportunity to get into the “classroom” and learn how health and fitness can fit into your life. Each class will focus on a different wellness topic and break it down to its simplest terms. Information will be presented, examples will be given, demonstrations will be performed, and you will be able to try new things in a comfortable, learning atmosphere. About this workshop, Intro to Yoga
In this workshop, participants will learn the practices of yoga which are designed to integrate mind, body and soul with the purpose of achieving a higher level of total awareness and strength. This class will teach you everything you need to know about yoga and what you need to do to get started.  You will learn some basic poses and terminology, as well as the differences between the various types of yoga.
