…And They’re Off! Spa Mirbeau at Saratoga’s Opening Day

The pride and joy of Saratoga Springs for over 150 years opened its gates for yet another six weeks of racing! That’s right, the Saratoga Race Course kicked off its 2017 season last Friday, July 21, drawing tens of thousands of people seeking to experience the excitement of thoroughbred racing—and some pampering as well.

If you’ve been to the Saratoga Race Course, you’ll know there’s nothing quite like the thunder of the horses and the eruption of the crowd when they pass the grandstands, all drowned out by the slow-motion pound of your heart beating, hoping you bet on the right one!

But sometimes the Saratoga summer heat can make you straight-up tired. We’ve all been there, when no matter how hard you try to keep going, keep betting and keep playing, your adrenaline just isn’t doing its job anymore!

If this has happened to you, you’ll know it’s one of the most frustrating feelings on the planet, especially since you wait eagerly for track season all fall, winter and spring.

That’s why we decided to help you avoid it this track season, by bringing a taste of Spa Mirbeau to the track on Opening Day to help you relax and rejuvenate, so you could party all day long! You may have seen us handing out glasses of crisp cucumber water, while also providing mini chair massages courtesy of our highly-trained professional therapists to track-goers under the cool shade of the Jockey Silks Porch.

The best part of the whole experience was that the massages were FREE with a donation to a fabulous equine charity, Rerun Thoroughbred Adoption Services. Guests knew that with each massage, they were helping racehorses find safe, enjoyable homes and jobs in their retirement.

If you were unable to stop by and see us on Opening Day, don’t be disappointed! We’ll be back to the Saratoga Race Course on Travers Day. Treat yourself and feel good while doing it! You’re giving to a great cause, and we love treating you.

Giving Back: Spa Mirbeau at the White Party

(Left to Right) Michael Dal Pos (Managing Partner), Jonathan Dal Pos (Managing Partner), Alex Marano, Molly McKenna (Retail Buyer), Stefanie Traynor (Creative Coordinator), Stephanie Hemsworth (Director of Finance), and Doug Kottely

What’s the first thought that comes to your mind when you think of a “White Party”? If you’re imagining flowy white sundresses, clean and crisp white collars, perfectly-pressed white tablecloths, all caught in a warm summer breeze, you just got a little taste of Saturday night’s event!

We were honored to be an Associate Sponsor at the Saratoga Bridges annual White Party, located at the Saratoga National Golf Club. Six of our team members enjoyed delicious tastings by Mazzone Catering, while sipping mouth-watering cocktails by Ketel One Vodka and fine wines courtesy of MJM World Imports. It was a perfect evening, complete with a spectacular private fireworks show under the stars. But even better than the look, the feel, the sights, the sounds and the overall experience, was the inspiration behind the event—and the cause.

Saratoga Bridges is a Chapter of NYSARC, Inc., the largest not-for-profit in New York State, serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. Staffing 545 employees and 197 volunteers, Saratoga Bridges is the third-largest non-profit human services agency and one of the top 15 employers in Saratoga County. On a daily basis, this organization betters the lives of community members, providing 450 individuals commuter transportation, giving 278 families in-home support and so much more.

Giving back to the community is more than just something we talk about at Spa Mirbeau—It’s something we’re committed to doing. Even before we open this fall at Crossgates, we want people to know that we’re a community partner, dedicated toward making the welfare of our community and the people who live in it a priority.

A Partner to the Community: Spa Mirbeau at American Cancer Society’s Red, White, & Blue Party

Berry Lavender Cocktail anyone? We were thrilled to join the American Cancer Society in celebrating their annual Red, White & Blue party! This year’s guests enjoyed live grilling, live music from Funk Evolution, yard games and a silent auction, not to mention delicious food and beverage.

We knew we had to be a part of this magnificent community cause, so we decided to jump in, Spa Mirbeau-style! We sponsored Blueberry Lavender Cocktails for each guest, reminiscent of a luxurious spa getaway with each sip. We also donated to the party’s silent auction, providing a luxurious Mirbeau brand gym bag filled with top-of-the-line beauty products, candles, chocolates, and gift cards to Crossgates Mall and Spa Mirbeau. The deserving winner, Barbara Macdowell, is a volunteer on all 3 ACS event committees, sits on the local ACS Board of Advisors and runs the ACS Blood Cancer support group, all on top of her hectic schedule as an oncology nurse. We look forward to spoiling Barbara when we open this fall!

To top off the Red, White, & Blue party, the American Cancer Society took time to honor two people who have been personally impacted by their mission. The society presented the Hero of Hope Award to the Villa Family in honor of John Villa, who recently passed away after a short battle with pancreatic cancer, and the Rising Star Award to Robert Bellizzi, a young professional who has not only been impacted by cancer, but has used his passion to help fight the disease.

The American Cancer Society’s mission is to one day create a world free from the pain and suffering of cancer, and we were honored to play a tiny part in helping them get one step closer to that world.

To all of the fabulous guests from the Red, White and Blue Party, we look forward to seeing you again at Spa Mirbeau in Crossgates this fall!

We were so proud to have Spa Mirabeau as a new community partner in the 2017 American Cancer Society’s Red, White & Blue Party as our Signature Drink Sponsor! Donating to events like these allows the American Cancer Society to raise awareness and funds to provide life-saving patient services and groundbreaking research. It is our mission to save lives, celebrate lives and lead the fight for a world without cancer and we certainly couldn’t do that without partners like Spa Mirbeau! They were a pleasure to work with and we look forward to continuing to make a difference in the fight against cancer with them by our side in the future. –Elizabeth Hunter, ACS Community Development Manager
